Congratulations to the Dunwoody High School Class of 2012

Last evening, at a ceremony held at First Baptist Church of Atlanta, almost 400 Dunwoody High Students participated in Commencement ceremonies.  Board of Education Member Nancy Jester attended and on behalf of the school district, formally certified the students for graduation and assisted Principal Swanson in the awarding of diplomas.  Students gathered one last time as a class at the annual Senior’s Last Blast held at the Dunwoody High Gymnasium.

Senior class members have received over $10 million in scholarship offerings.  180 members of the Senior Class were awarded with the “Superintendent’s Award” which recognizes those students who have taken 3 or more AP classes.

The Senior Class Gift to Dunwoody High School is a much-needed new marquee at the corner of Vermack and Womack.

Good luck to the Class of 2012 as they move on to the next chapter in their lives!!

On a personal note, I would like to thank Mr. Swanson for his service to Dunwoody High School and to my children the last 2 years.  Dunwoody’s loss is Arabia Mountain’s gain.  Good luck, Mr. Swanson!!

Dunwoody High Duo Going Out on Top

By Bobby Tedder
Throughout the past four years Dunwoody High School seniors Luke Jason Olney and Jessica Morgan Andersen have gone from being faces in the crowd to becoming the faces of the Class of 2012. The well-rounded pair is going out in style, having distinguished themselves — Olney named valedictorian; Andersen, salutatorian — for the final time among a graduating class of almost 400. “Both students are just fantastic kids and they represent Dunwoody High School very well here at school and also in the community,” said Dunwoody Principal Rodney Swanson.
