Dunwoody High School Math Team

Final Round of the Mandelbrot Competition

Congratulations to the DHS Math Team on a great finish to this year's Mandelbrot Mathematics Competition! Dunwoody competes in the SE region, comprising 9 states.

Our 2 teams in the contest finished in 14th and 20th places respectively.  DHS was the only school from Georgia to finish with two teams in the top 20!   (Click here to see the final standings.)

The highlight of the final round was Mallory Harris' perfect score, our team's first one of the year (and Mallory was one of only 5 students in the region to earn a perfect score in Round 5).   We also had solid performances from several students to help consolidate our rankings: Ellen Bertschi, John William Elmer, Thomas Dellaert, Erik Van Winkle, Jacky Zhu, Andrew Weatherly, Aaron Martin and Zack Bloomberg.

Over the entire five rounds of competition, lasting from October to March, we are very proud of Will Koval, who finished tied for 42nd place overall. We had six other students finish in the top 100 individuals: Mallory Harris, Thomas Dellaert, Parker Hollander, Erik Van Winkle, Andrew Weatherly and David Heavern. Also earning honorable mention (top 150) were Jacky Zhu, Craig Sturken and Giang Ha.
