STEM Event at Dunwoody Elementary
A Visit From Buzz

DES students: Abigail Anglin, Tess Roark (from back, hugging),
and Claire Anglin.  Abigail and Claire Anglin are sisters

STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Students at Dunwoody Elementary celebrate STEM day once a month where students are engaged in problem solving using a design process that allows students to hypothesize, test, and retest prototypes.  Students are told that they are engineers on this day.  To help celebrate, Buzz, the Georgia Tech mascot came to the school early to greet the students as they arrived.  Buzz also participated in the school wide WDES broadcast where he assisted in delivering the weather report and helped the Mrs. Sanders, DES Principal, read a STEM related story. Thanks to Mr. Kevin Watts, DES parent, for “delivering” Buzz to the school, and for helping to organize this event.  Everyone had a great time with Buzz!
