Cross Keys High School Track - An Abomination

Good News!  It appears Cross Keys HS may yet get that new long-deserved track!  The Cross Keys Foundation shared on their Facebook page the news that DCSD will begin taking bids on this project. It is shameful that this has taken so long, but now it is being done.  Click here to view the bid information.
For years the DeKalb County School District and Board of Education have turned a blind eye to the schools of the Cross Keys cluster.  Kim Gocke of the Cross Keys Foundation posted the link to this video of the Cross Keys track on the AJC Get Schooled blog. The disrepair and danger of this track appears to be worse than what we saw of the track at Peachtree Charter Middle School.

Do you think a City of Brookhaven school district could/would do better for their schools?  I absolutely believe this and this is one of the reasons why I support HR486.

  1. Thank you for bringing up this issue again. Shameful facilities like this speak loudly to the Cross Keys students that they are not worth an investment.

  2. As an answer to your question, absolutely! While I am thrilled to see the track get done for CCHS, it should not take media pressure and district embarrassment to have DCSS do what is right. And for CCHS, it is only the tip of the iceberg of the lack of attention and the wrongs that has been done to this school and community.
