Dunwoody High School JV Academic Team
Places 2nd in State Tournament
Thomas Dellaert Earns Spot on Georgia Academic All Star Team!

Over the weekend, the DHS JV Academic Quiz Bowl team came in 2nd at the GATA JV State Tournament.  The team went 9-1, outscoring its opponents by a cumulative 3455-1435.  Sophomore Captain Ryan Polk led our scoring with an amazing 32.8% average, with freshman Patrick Clinch adding an additional 15%.  Teammates Parul Rai, Nate Lee and Ryan Wirtz also contributed significantly to the team's scoring and wins.  This is the team's second year in a row finishing in the top 5 in the state.

Dunwoody also had a second team that finished 10th in the state tournament.  Freshman Ruzan Daruwalla led the scoring, with help from teammates Alex Hoang, Ben Planer and Jake Planer.

Also over the weekend, GATA held tryouts for the Georgia Academic All Star team.  Eight students, including Dunwoody's varsity captain Thomas Dellaert, earned spots on the team that will represent the state of Georgia at the National All Star Academic Tournament at Ohio State University in June.

  1. To my knowledge, Thomas is the first player in Dunwoody history to earn a place on the Georgia Academic All Star team.
